Hey there! Are you a photographer looking for some direction? I feel you. I've been where you are. Some days I still might be. If I hadn't had some amazing mentor photographers early on in my photography experience, there is no way I would be where I am now! I'm now ready to pass what I've learned on to you!

mentorships

That's me right over there, doing my thing in the mountains. Aside from being at home with my family, the outdoors are where I feel the most like myself. I spent a good chunk of my youth running through the redwood forests, hiking down and up the Grand Canyon, and swimming in Lake Tahoe.

These days, I'm trying to instill that same love and respect for the outdoors in my two kids. We love camping together, wading in rivers, and exploring this beautiful state we live in!

hey friend!

why a mentorship?

Being a photographer is an amazing opportunity. For those of us who love the art, it can be incredibly rewarding. But turning it into a business that makes actual money is difficult, and takes a ton of hard work. It's not for everyone. But for those of you up for the challenge, I'm here to help!

6 reasons you need a mentor

This is a people-centered industry. It's all about connections - real connections between actual people. Online courses and print materials are great, but nothing substitutes for the guidance of an experienced professional. I've taken courses, workshops, downloaded numbers of free and paid resources. As your mentor, I'll give you access to all my knowledge! I'm an open book!

A mentor can provide customized guidance. Mentors keep you accountable and ensure you're learning what you need to, when you need to.

A mentor should be your supporter! Social media makes it easy to play the comparison game, but a good mentor should be in your corner and help you achieve your goals.

3

With a mentor you can get honest feedback. Not just limited to image critique, but feedback on your business processes, client experience, and more. Taking constructive advice from a mentor is much better than seeking it out from strangers on the internet.

4

A mentorship will teach you new skills! Photography is technical and artistic. A good mentor should teach you not only how to use your camera but how to use it in a way that will allow you to express yourself artistically.

5

Networking! Often in this industry, networking can make a HUGE difference. A mentor can help you make connections with other creatives.

A mentor will help you learn from their mistakes. Learning to run a business on your own can be a lot of trial and error. With an involved mentor, you'll avoid those pitfalls they experienced themselves throughout their business journey. Avoiding simple and common business mistakes can save you tons of time and money!
