How did you 'get into' photography?

As a kid, I spent most of my time in front of a camera. Asides from modeling and acting, I was a perpetual subject for my grandpa, who was a photographer himself. I didn't love it but I did love photography as a creative outlet.

When I got married I bought a Canon Rebel Kit at Costco and the rest is history. I love photography because I get to meet so many fantastic people and I get to learn something new every day.

how would you define your style?

My favorite way to shoot is in a photojournalistic style. I love the idea of observing an event and documenting it the way it really happened. I also love to experiment with different techniques and styles as situations require.

Since I consider myself a hybrid photographer (I shoot digital and film) I always edit to match whatever film I'm using. I love the look and nostalgia of film.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF A WEDDING DAY?

I absolutely love shooting bride and groom portraits! There is something so, so special about that time right after a couple is married. Being able to capture those moments is why I started shooting weddings in the first place.

I always recommend my couples set aside time during the day for these portraits. Not only are they beautiful for prints or an album, but it's a great way to have a few peaceful moments before the fun of a reception!

DO YOU DELIVER EVERY IMAGE YOU SHOOT?

During the course of a wedding day or portrait session I take hundreds, sometimes thousands, of photos. Afterwards, I go through all the photos in a process called "culling". I cull out any duplicates, blurry photos, test shots, etc and edit the rest.

At the end, I want you to have as many photos as possible! I never limit the number of photos I deliver.

do you edit or touch up any photos?

Yes, absolutely! Your photos will be delivered to you edited in a consistent and artistic way (see my portfolio for examples). I also include touch-ups (removing blemishes, etc) on up to 20 photos of your choice.

do you GIVE OUT RAW FILES?

Nope. RAW files are unedited and unfinished photographs. Trust me on this, you don't want or need them! My clients hire me to provide a finished product, which is delivered as a JPEG file. I never limit the amount of files delivered so my clients can be at ease knowing that they're getting all their good photographs.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE GET?

On a wedding day I typically shoot between 50-80 image per hour. The number of images varies depending on how your wedding day is structured. During our first meeting, we will talk about timeline options that will maximize our use of time and lighting in order to give you the most and best photos!

I don't specify or set a number and I never limit the number of files I deliver. I want you to have as many great photos as I can give you!

HOW ARE OUR IMAGES DELIVERED?

I deliver all my images via an online gallery. It's incredibly easy to use. The gallery makes sharing your images with family and friends simple and quick. You can even download your images to any computer or device as many times as you want.

DO YOU RETAIN COPYRIGHT OF THE PHOTOS?

I do retain copyright on all my photographic work. I do provide all my clients with a print release that allows printing anywhere, however much you'd like. Retaining my copyright basically means you can't take my photos and present them as your own, but you'd never do that, would you?

DO YOU CHARGE TRAVEL FEES?

I do not charge travel fees in the state of Montana. If you have an event outside of Montana, contact me and I'll put together a custom quote for you. I travel often to a number of places and always love to fit sessions into my schedule!

All my couples receive an Engagement Session Guide on booking. The guide not only covers what to wear, but how to choose a location, how to pick accessories, and lots of wedding day tips as well!

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR TO OUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION?

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR TO OUR PORTRAIT SESSION?

All my clients receive a Portrait Session Style Guide that will answer questions like "What to Wear?" "Where to go?" and "How to prepare my kids?"

do you do destination weddings?

I do! I love to travel and experience new places. I've been all around the United States, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Western and Eastern Europe.

HOW DO I RESERVE MY DATE?

Reserving a date is easy, but I book up weddings about a year in advance, and portrait sessions can be very limited during busy times. Your date is reserved as soon as you sign a contract and pay a 25% retainer to hold your date.
